Ensuring South Carolina is Open for Business

When disaster strikes, South Carolina businesses can find the assistance needed to recover through the South Carolina SBDC Network’s Business Disaster Recovery Services. Our professionally trained business consultants provide no cost consulting to help you minimize losses and increase survivability when affected by a disaster. At no cost, our specialists can assist in helping you apply for state and federal disaster loans. They will walk you through a step-by-step recovery process to help you get back on your feet. They also will help you access other resources you’ll need in your recovery.

Finally, beyond recovery efforts, the SC SBDC team can help you prepare a comprehensive business continuity and emergency preparedness plan before future disasters strike.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

After a Presidential disaster declaration, you must first register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. To obtain a registration number, call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362 (TTY: 1-800-462-7585) or visit DisasterAssistance.gov.

Disaster Recover Centers

You can locate a Disaster Recovery Center and receive personal, one-on-one help from an SBA representative. For more information or to find a location near you, please contact our Customer Service Center. Call 1-800-659-2955 (TTY: 1-800-877-8339) or e-mail disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.

SBA Disaster Loan Information

SBA provides low-interest disaster loans to businesses of all sizes, private non-profit organizations, homeowners, and renters. SBA disaster loans can be used to repair or replace the following items damaged or destroyed in a declared disaster: real estate, personal property, machinery and equipment, and inventory and business assets.

SBA Disaster Loan Online Application Process

You can apply online for all types of SBA disaster assistance loans. The online application is the fastest method to receive a decision about your loan eligibility. You also have the option of submitting a paper application by mail. For either application, you must submit the completed loan application and a signed and dated IRS Form 4506-T giving permission for the IRS to provide SBA your tax return information.

You may also apply in person at any Disaster Recovery Center and receive personal, one-on-one help from an SBA representative.
