South Carolina and North Carolina collaborate to help small

businesses sell to the government

The South Carolina Small Business Development Centers (SC SBDC) and North Carolina Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) are pleased to announce a collaboration to help small businesses sell to federal, state and local governments.

Their two Government Contracting Assistance Programs (GCAPs) have more than 65 years of combined experience providing business owners with comprehensive assistance in selling products and services to local, state and federal government agencies.

GCAP counselors located throughout South Carolina and North Carolina can help:

· Search government databases to identify opportunities

· Research contract award histories

· Prepare capability statements

· Review bids and proposals

· Identify eligibility for economic development programs and complete applicable certifications

· Address contract performance issues and prepare for audits

· Provide “up to the minute” information on government procurement processes and procedures

Companies that win government contracts need to demonstrate that they can perform by delivering the product or service in a timely manner, providing appropriate financial accounting and meeting cybersecurity and other requirements. The GCAPs also provide access to a wide array of business development services around finance, marketing, and management to best position companies to be successful in the government contracting arena.

The South Carolina and North Carolina GCAPs are also collaborating on a major government contracting conference – Opportunities 2022: Making Dollars and Sense Selling to the Government. It will be held at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel on Monday, March 14, 2022. Participants will be able to market their goods and services directly to prime contractors and government agencies, attend sessions designed to take the mystery out of selling to the government, and network with other business owners. Attendees will also be eligible for future in-depth “how to” sessions via Zoom.
